GIU day 5

Hello everyone and welcome to day 5, my final day, of my Growing in Unity week with Unity Stamp Company!!  This week has been so much fun, and I have truly LOVED reading all the comments both here and on Facebook, thank you all!  Be sure to leave another comment today for a chance to win some surprise deeply etched red rubber!!  Good Luck!!

Today I did something different.  I made a 12×12 scrapbook layout!!  I used the Free Your Dreams KOM to create this fairly CAS layout. I actually created 4 of these for a swap group I was in, with dolls as the theme.   I paper pieced the shirt and headband on my girl, and then watercolored her hair and skin with Zig markers. My sentiments were from my stash, because I wanted the July for my title 😉

For some extra flair I took that sheet out of my 6×6 pad with all the stripes and ephemera that I never know what to do with and cut some strips off and staggered them behind the girl!  I really like what it added!  I chose a green mat for my photo (have yet to print it of course, it’s of my daughter!) and a few scattered embellishments just for fun.

I was looking at it after that point and couldn’t decide if I was done…so I did what I always do and kept messing with it!   I grabbed a ruler and a black Micron pen and drew a frame of sorts around the mat, not crossing through my sentiments.  The bow was also a last minute add, using a die I have in my stash and some thin washi tape I added to dress it up a bit.  And THEN I was done!!!

Thank you so much for your kindness and support, not only this week, but ALWAYS!!  I love creating and sharing with all of you!  Be sure to check out my earlier posts this week, I will link to them below. If you like what you see, be sure to follow my blog here and catch me over on Instagram!  See you all soon!!

  1. Great coloring and paper-piecing. I love the hand-drawn element and embellishments as well. Not a scrapbooker myslef, but I always like to see how people use stamps in their layouts.

  2. This is so much fun! I love the pretty papers you used to paper piece and how you dressed up the bow. It’s the little things that can really make a card/layout. And the hand drawn frame is a great touch. Always enjoy your posts – wherever I may find them. 😉 Thank for the awesome inspiration and fun.

  3. layouts are so difficult for me ~ this is absolutely inspiring!! I LOVE it. Your piecing and background pieces and nothing to distract on the edges…. It’s gorgeous and I hope you don’t mind if I share this inspiration with my little 4H club!! ?
