Hello and thank you so much for stopping by!!! I love flipping through Instagram, or browsing endlessly through my Pinterest feed as much as the next crafter—and I noticed something recently! Memorydex (MDX) cards are coming back *happy dance*! I love making these little cuties, they bring me joy to collect, trade, and admire on my desk! I have made them off and on for years. They are known primarily as Memorydex (courtesy of Heidi Swapp) or Rolos (shortened rolodex card). They fit on standard rolodex files, and are on average 4″ wide. The height depends entirely on how you will display them as different holder styles will allow different heights, and possible some overhang off the sides.
Ok–enough history–more card making!
I got this idea in my head after seeing some gorgeous MDX cards on my social media and knew that the TLC Designs Cherry on Top dies would work perfectly! I was right 🙂
The card is entirely made of die cuts, with *gasp* NO stamping! I die cut the cupcake base out of white cardstock, then the additional pieces out of pieces of TLC Design’s Krafty and Sweet digi pattern paper. The pattern paper worked great, and I love the texture this particular paper set has with the lines—it’s really stunning to print out!
I did add some shading to my cupcake with distress inks for a little dimension. Then for the cherry on top—see what I did there?!?— what cupcake doesn’t need sprinkles!?! I had these cute little heart shaped clay embellishments that were perfect! I just spread glue where I wanted them, poured them on and tapped them down, then waited for them to dry!
The base was added by cutting 2 solid 1.5×4″ rectangles and matting a piece of pattern paper on the top. I punched the holes out with a special punch I have for these cards, then sandwiched my cupcake in the middle of the 2 rectangles!
That finishes up my card for today! I will be back next Monday with another fun TLC designs project. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook too, and subscribe to me on YouTube to keep up with all my caffeinated adventures! Also, if you have yet to check out the TLC Designs shop—consider this a public service announcement…YOU NEED TO! They also have a fabulous Facebook group that has inspiration from other crafty peeps and the rest of the amazing design team. Head over and say hello!
Until next time—
